    What is Far Infrared?
    Friday, 9 November 2007 : 7:00:48 PM

FAR Infrared heat is a form of heat/energy projected into objects that are in the vicinity of its wavelengths. This heat/energy is completely safe and has no UV properties so it will not cause damage to your skin.

Unlike a traditional steam sauna that raises the surrounding air temperature to a very high level, carbon fibre infrared saunas heat the body directly. With carbon fibre panels behind, beside and in some cases in front of you, this results in deeper and more even tissue penetration (between 50-75mm).

With traditional steam saunas, it takes much longer for them to reach operating temperature. Some people find them uncomfortable and some can even experience breathing difficulties. Plus, the steam is more likely to cause a build up of bacteria.

By contrast, the MaaX FAR Infrared Sauna can reach its operating temperature within 5 minutes and it enables your body to perspire and receive all the health benefits without the discomfort of a traditional steam sauna. The heat produced is a dry heat ensuring that there is much less chance of bacteria build up inside the cabin.

Carbon fibre heating panels allow for better performance, keeping it within the essential range of 7 to 14 microns - averaging at an optimal micron output of 9.4 microns. This allows for deep penetration of heat that can improve body conditioning and well being.

    HEALTH AND FITNESS BENEFITS
Better circulation and increased energy – The sauna emits infrared energy that is absorbed by human cells. Cellular activity can instantly be invigorated resulting in better circulation and an overall improved metabolism.

Weight loss – The heat therapy of infrared saunas can assist in weight loss programs by speeding up the metabolic process of vital organs and endocrine glands resulting in calorific loss.

Cardiovascular health – The heart rate can increase as more blood flow is diverted towards the extremities of the skin without heightening blood pressure.

Aid recovery from injuries – Infrared generated heat may stimulate dilation of peripheral blood vessels, bringing oxygen to joints and extremities and speeding the healing of sprains and strains.

Detoxification – The bodies metabolic rate may increase causing extra toxic waste products to be purged from the body through the skin during perspiration. The skin is often referred to as the “3rd kidney” because it is believed to be responsible for eliminating 30% of the body’s waste.

Stress reduction and relaxation – Infrared sauna heat treatment before a massage may help by creating an overall relaxing effect. It can loosen the muscle tissue so the therapist can do a more thorough and effective massage.

Improved immune system – By creating an artificial “fever”, infrared heat may have positive effect on the immune system. Often misunderstood, fever is a natural healing response of the body. The function of the immune system is increased naturally during a fever while virus and bacterial growth is slowed. This helps the body ward off invading organisms. Infrared heat treatment in the early stages of cold and flu has also been known to stop the disease before the symptoms occur.

Pregnant women should not use Infrared treatment
